My Story
I discovered art at a young age and continued to build on my skills. It has taken me thousands of hours and many failed drawings and paintings to hone my techniques. Despite many adversities in life, like having low vision and being a red head, I continue to create beautiful art.
I have been teaching students of varied ages and capabilities in multiple art disciplines for the past 7 years. I teach Classical techniques combined with modern materials and open up art to experimentation. When you book a class with me, you can expect to learn drawing, design, painting, sculpting and a bit of Art History.
I am a contributing member of the local art community; engaging with public poetry readings, plein air painting groups, and promoting local musicians. I am active in the Lions Club International and enjoy volunteering with Oxford Cultural Arts Commission. Currently, I help manage the exhibits at the Oxford Public Library.
I feel that painting is magnetic. I find inspiration from daily adventures and my photography. From these life experiances, I sketch out my ideas. The art then pulls me in and I work from dark to light, striving for a flowing composition, using vibrant colors and paying close attention to detail. My artistic goal is to open up a dialogue between nature and people.
